Today’s GAPP is a Sukoro (Irregular), on a Cairo Pentagonal grid! It’s based on a section in Volume 11 of the puzzle magazine Toketa, which features Sukoro puzzles on a variety of unusual grids. The Cairo Pentagonal grid gives each cell 5 neighbors, but you can get even more; a Hex grid has 6 for each cell, a Truncated Square grid has some cells with 8, and by grouping cells together, you could get a cell with an arbitrarily large number of neighbors!
Rules: Place a number into some cells so that all cells with numbers form one orthogonally connected area. Numbers represent how many of the (up to) five orthogonally adjacent cells contain numbers. No two orthogonally adjacent cells may contain the same number.
Here’s a GAPP 101 that may help if you get stuck: This ruleset is very constrained, and there are lots of places to make progress. If you feel stuck, try moving at a different part of the grid, and look for cells with only a single choice for a value different from their neighbors.
