Time for another revisit of a genre we've only featured once quite long ago. I've been procrastinating doing work all morning and I'm running out of characters for the intro, so enjoy the puzzle!
Today's puzzle is a Pentopia!
Rules: Shade some pentominoes of cells so that no pentominoes touch one another, not even diagonally. No two shaded pentominoes may be the same shape, counting rotations and reflections as the same. Clued cells cannot be shaded, and contain arrows indicating all of the orthogonal directions in which a shaded cell appears closest to the clued cell. At least one shaded cell must appear in the direction of an arrow.
Note that not all pentominoes have to be used and that, you guessed it, ⚠️🚨 this puzzle has a negative constraint! 🚨⚠️
GAPP 101 🧐: Since pentominoes cannot touch each other even diagonally, if you shade the cells directly in front of a clue with 'adjacent' arrows, the shaded cells must connect to each other to avoid different pentominoes touching (see the spoilered image). This is especially useful for clues with 3 arrows (further hint in next spoiler), because shading any adjacent cell of a 3-arrow clue always forces a U pentomino. If the U pentomino is already placed and there are more 3-arrow clues in the grid, you know the cells directly adjacent to those 3-arrow clues must be unshaded!
