Tyrgannus

Today marks a historic day in the history of this channel. It's our one year anniversary! One year ago today, Jovi_al posted the first Heyawake GAPP, and we've been handing out sloths, crabs, and birds ever since!

I'd like to take a moment to reflect and thank everyone involved. While Freddie Hand, Eric Fox, Shye, Jovi_al, and myself have been the regular setters this year, Riri and Xoned have been our dedicated testers and Bakpao has been involved from time to time when the assistance is greatly appreciated. They've all made GAPPs of their own, too! It really is a team effort and it's been quite the journey all working together!

We'd also like to thank the mods in general. GAPP was in many ways an experiment and we're so very grateful for them giving us the opportunity and platform to make tasty pencil puzzles for such a large audience! Special shoutout to the GAS team for being an inspiration for our team. We would likely not exist without you. Thanks y'all!

Before we get into some fun statistics, we very much would like to thank the solvers. Yes, you! There are over 1300 people who get pinged to solve GAPP everyday and several hundred of you answer that call consistently! There has been growth that has been quite visible in many of the regular solvers as well as veterans who have kept their solving skills sharp. Thank you for solving and keep being you!

As this is the one year anniversary, this is the 366th day of GAPP, but there are far more puzzles in the channel! There are 377 main GAPP's in this channel counting doppels as multiple and all of today's puzzles. There are also 69 bonus puzzles so far (with more coming very soon at the end of the month) which puts us at 446 non example GAPP puzzles in the channel in total!

11 different setters have made GAPPs for the channel
230+ genres (depending how you count it)
276 rulesets
More animals handed out than anyone can count.

Puzzle rules and links in next post! (continued)

1: Cojun by Freddie Hand

Rules: Place a number into each cell so that each region contains the numbers from 1 to N with no repeats, where N is the number of cells in the region. Numbers of the same value may not touch one another orthogonally. Where two numbers within a region are stacked vertically, the number on top must always be larger.

Y: Snake Egg by Eric Fox

Rules: Shade some cells to form a non-intersecting path which does not touch itself orthogonally. Circles mark the ends of the path. Exactly one orthogonally connected area of unshaded cells must exist of each size from the range given outside the grid. Cells with numbers cannot be shaded, and represent the size of the area they’re in.

E: Shimaguni by Tyrgannus

Rules: Shade a single group of orthogonally connected cells in each region. Shaded groups may not share a bold border. Regions with numbers must contain the indicated amount of shaded cells. Each region must contain at least one shaded cell, and no two adjacent regions may contain the same number of shaded cells.

A: Masyu by Jovi_al

Rules: Draw a non-intersecting loop through the centers of some cells that passes through every circle. The loop must turn on black circles and travel straight through the cells on either side. The loop must go straight through white circles, and turn in at least one of the cells on either side.

R: Nurikabe by Shye
Rules: Shade some cells so that all shaded cells form one orthogonally connected area. Clues cannot be shaded, and every orthogonally connected area of unshaded cells contains exactly one clue, the value of which represents the size of the area. No 2x2 region may be entirely shaded
