Walker

It’s time for the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop! 🪩 ⬇️ The Stostone ball is up near the top of the grid, above Times Square. When you’re ready, you can press "Drop blocks" to drop it to the bottom!

Rules: Shade some cells such that each region has exactly one orthogonally connected group of shaded cells and the shaded groups, if they were to "fall" to the bottom of the grid, take up exactly the bottom half of the grid. Shaded cells must not be adjacent across region borders. A number in a region indicates the size of that region's shaded group.

Here’s the usual Stostone GAPP 101: Each column must have N/2 shaded cells in it (in this case five). Look for columns where 5 cells are already shaded, or where all remaining cells must be shaded to reach 5.
